Autumn Bamboo Sale 2016.

This year I have plenty of advanced stock in 400 & 500mm pots at bargain prices, along with some  popular favourites:-

 

 

Malay Dwarf Bamboo (Bambusa heterostachya)

 

 

Malay Dwarf Bamboo is a good hedging & screening variety that grows to 6m in height.

Fairly upright in habit; a good choice for narrow areas with sun.

Grows quickly during warm weather but slows during the cooler months.

These plants are divisions from locally grown mature clumps & will grow strongly after establishment.

 
 
 

China Gold Bamboo. (Bambusa virridi-vittata).

 

 

 Attractive gold canes striped with green to 6m in height. Has a slightly open growth habit due to the greater culm spacing on this variety.

Grows well in more temperate climates which results in a longer growing season here on the coast,

Good dense screening variety with sun, or plant as an ornamental feature. These plants stand at around 3m tall in their pots & are ready for planting out.

 Giant Buddha's Belly Bamboo

(Bambusa vulgaris 'Wamin')

Tall growing variety with thick swollen stems that give the plant its name. Will reach around 8m in height. Useful as a feature, potted specimen or tall screen where space allows. Divisions of my mature plants:-

Asian hedge Bamboo
Dendrocalamopsis vario striata
 
 
Cold tolerant clumping species that has a long growing season on the Illawarra. Upright to slightly arching growth habit with ferny foliage borne almost to ground level. Plant 1 to 1.5m apart for a dense neighbour barrier. Maintains a good green colour throughout the year. This plant was produced from 100mm tube stock in 12 months.

Chinese Dwarf Bamboo
Bambusa guangxiensis
 
 
 Another cold tolerant clumping species with growths still maturing in early winter.
Plants grow in width to begin with, putting on height after the clumps have established. Another good screening variety for suburban privacy; plant 1 to1.5m apart. Gives a traditional bamboo appearance.

Tiger Grass
Thysanolaena maxima
 
Bamboo-like true grass popular for its fast screening ability. Has a large leaf not seen on most shorter bamboos. Fast growing in warm weather, dormant during the cooler months. Grows to 3m tall. Used to give a tropical effect in the garden.

Mid Height Hedging/ Screening Bamboo

Alphonse Karr
Bambusa multiplex var. 'Alphonse Karr'
 
 
 
Taller screening variety growing around 4m tall in sun, higher under shadier conditions.
Gold canes striped with green make this a good feature in the garden. Dense foliage to almost ground level; cold tolerant. The specimen pictured above has been removed from an established clump, hence the lack of foliage on the plants' lower parts. Available as advanced plants around 3.5m tall.
